Our Programmes

Intending by programme a system of projects and community services intended to meet a specific need, Nataté likes to organise its actions and projects under four main programmes:

  • Sustainable development
  • Minority empowerment
  • Education
  • Information and awareness raising

Each of them is meant to answer to a number of needs and to address the specific problems our global and local society face nowadays but, at the same time, they are interconnected. In this sense, the Education programme helps us to empower those who want to strive for sustainable development or toward a society where each member is aware of its own rights and responsibilities.

All the programmes are organised through a series of activities and projects planned and developed with the participation of the community they target.
The activities we develop in order to accomplish the aims and objectives of each programme are different but each of them is chosen according to a careful analysis of the overall socio - cultural, economic and natural environment where it takes place.
The actors of our programmes and activities are national and international volunteers, local communities and professionals.

In our webpage you can find references about all the activities and the projects we organise or we are part of.

Sustainable development

Our world grows fast. Economic development and business have been for a very long time the main engines of our world's development. Nowadays we know that economy without nature and justice can not sustain our planet and all those who live in it. In Nataté we believe that a sustainable development should be based on a deep respect for our natural and human surroundings and that peace is at the heart of it.

Through our sustainable development programme we aim at:

  • promoting ecologic and sustainable life styles
  • promoting responsible consumption and behaviours
  • promoting fair trade and organic farming
  • protecting the environment
  • developing a peaceful society and peaceful relationships

Minority empowerment

Whatever our own specific social and cultural background can be, we are each day confronted to individuals and groups recognised or considered as a minority in the society we evoluate in. We identify these groups or individuals by their culture, religion, gender, economic status, age or personal choice. Thinking about it in a deeper way, most of us ARE part of a minority, visible or not, and it's often enough to change village, quarter, city or country to be considered as different, abnormal (" not part of the norm "), as a minority of foreigners. We know now with certitude that there is no individual progress without a global evolution of peoples and societies. History has shown enough that any other development models were, at short range, only germs of war, injustice and social unrest. The outmost have now to be done to develop an inclusive and tolerant society where each person could express and develop itself without violations of their basic Human rights. Minorities contribute to the incredible richness of our planet, country, town and group of friends. "Boredom once arose from uniformity" was saying the poet already 250 years ago...

If in general our minority empowerment programme aims at supporting and empowering marginalised groups of people and vulnerable minorities, in particular we would like to:

  • enable the understanding of minority rights and realities
  • develop educational and vocational training for those who do not have access to the mainstream educational system
  • support economic and social development
  • create situations of dialogue and understanding between different groups
  • provide space where knowledge and competences can be shared

Education

Nataté believes that education is a unique element of freedom and personal development and we think that through education, we can transform people from being passive into being active actors of their personal and collective development.
While education is a very wide field of work, Nataté promotes and practices non formal education and learning and, through it, the access to educational and training activities for all.
According to our philosophy and way of working, non formal education and learning is a structured educational process based on specific learning objectives. Our trainers are highly professional in the field of non formal education and mainly use participatory methods.

Through our education programme we aim at:

empowering young people and all those interested in self and community development Our educational activities vary from training courses on project management to simple workshops. To have a better idea of what we do in the field of education, please have a look to our activities.

Information and awareness raising

Considering that information and the capacity to choose between all the sources of knowledges we can access are of outmost importance in the life of each human being, Nataté works in order to develop a society where information is accessible and diverse.
Through our different campaigns, workshops and actions, we strive to rise awareness about everything that could affect our daily life. Having as main purpose the production and distribution of objective and realistic information, Nataté cooperates with other organisations and experts in this field.
Our main objective is the promotion of a society where human rights and human dignity are respected and implemented.
